This is a weird idea, but it’s pretty funny. Some guy on YouTube took the year’s biggest songs … like “Call Me Maybe” and “Gangnam Style” … and rewrote the lyrics using much more ADVANCED vocabulary.
For example, instead of the line, “Here’s my number / So call me maybe” in Carly Rae Jepsen’s song… he sings, quote, “Here’s a set of sequential integers / So perchance, we’ll engage in telephonic discourse.”
First he does “Call Me Maybe,” then Justin Bieber’s “Boyfriend” at :31, “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” by Taylor Swift at 1:11, “Gangnam Style” at 1:42, Gotye’s “Sombebody That I Used to Know” at 2:09, “What Makes You Beautiful” by One Direction at 2:27, and “We Are Young” by Fun at 2:54.
Impressive.
